My son has been a patient at North Mountain for 5 days, as of this writing, and, everything about this place is just terrible. Where do I start? There seems to be a fair ratio of staff, however, few appear to have patient's needs on their lists. My son has fallen out of bed several times in the few days he has been there and I was told "basically" that nothing could be done about it since theirs is a "No Restraint" facility. My son has a trache and a feeding tube. He pulls the vent tube loose and no one seems concerned except me and a student worker from Gateway Community College, It gets better!!! This is the dirtest, most disgusting place I have seen and everything in it is rundown. The walls need painting, the floors need a really good mopping and the equipment is shabby and dirty as well. It breaks my heart to leave my son in such a place but we have little choice because of his health insurance restrictions. The social worker at the hospital said they do wonderful things at North Mountain so maybe there's another facility out there somewhere doing wonderful thing in patient care and we're at the wrong location.
