I was so excited to try Mastros for the first time after hearing such amazing things about the place. Boyfriend made reservations here for our 8 year anniversary on a Saturday evening, requesting to sit inside the "treehouse" that everyone on yelp recommended. They even called him the day before to confirm if we were still coming.
We arrived about 5 minutes early and the host immediately had an "oh crap" look once we gave her the name for our reservation. She said if we wanted to sit in the treehouse it would be a 45 minute wait.. I was so upset because we made reservations almost a month in advance and the fact that they called us the day before to make sure we were still coming... Whatever
We didn't want to wait the extra 45 minutes cause we were starving, so they sat us at a different table.
We ordered cocktails, which were really good and strong! We got crab legs as appetizer and they were really fresh, I liked the cocktail sauce that came with it. We decided to share the bone in filet because we didn't want leftovers because the hotel we stayed at had no fridge, they were kind enough to split this for us. We also ordered scalloped potatoes as a side. The steak was okay, a little too salty for my liking. The potatoes were still hard, I wish we got Mac and cheese instead. Even though we split the steak we still couldn't finish it, we ended up taking it togo along with the potatoes.
For dessert we got the infamous butter cake and it was delicious! They put and candle and wrote happy anniversary, which was really sweet of them. When the check came I noticed that they charged us for the anniversary cake, I was reading other reviews that people got their dessert comped?! Anyways, overall I'm not sure if I'll return, at least not this location. I'm still bitter that they couldn't accommodate our seating arrangement for our anniversary.
