Sad. That is how I felt after leaving this sorry excuse of a zoo. We've been to the Cincy & Louisville Zoos numerous times as well as St. Louis zoo. What a difference. I was pleased that at least the escalator was working (doesn't always acc to other reviews). Parking is free. yay.I read 1 review about how overgrown w/ weeds it was. I figured oh that's just for pollination. & yes there were sections marked as such. But most of the areas were simply neglected & overgrown. the 1st thing that greeted us as we entered was a blue tent for a co selling vacations (timeshares?). At a zoo?? It was a bit warm so we were glad to see cooling misters. ha. Weak. I would get more relief from a water fountain splash. The glass enclosures were dirty?scratched up. Needed paint touch-ups in most places. Saw dead plants in areas (discard & replant!). many of the animals seemed listless, crowded. The aquarium was decent. The rest, not so much. save your money on vacation, don't spend it here. They need to hire some college students or out of work locals to walk around w/ cleaning supplies or to do touch ups after hrs. And yes, most of the landscape is a slight uphill trek. But I did see benches along the way. Decent picnic area. We were sorely disappointed.
