Today was my third time to go to Kyara for lunch (gave them 5 stars on 12-6). Guess what I ate. A sandwich from Tropical Smoothie next door. The first time I went to Kyara, I was seated quickly and had the best Japanese food I have had in Las Vegas. The second time, there were two customers waiting in front of me in the foyer and it took way too long to be seated and even longer to get my food (which was great again). Today, a group of 5 entered just before me. We were waiting forever, all the while the waitress was doing a lot of nothing. The counter was wide open and I asked if I could sit there and was told to wait. She finally sat the group of 5, then ignored me for a few more minutes. Then, she came and told me there were tons of orders and the wait for food would be really long. All this at 11:55 a.m. She basically told me to leave. I love the food here and have heard the night menu really rocks but after living in Japan for 20 years, customer service rules supreme. Bottom line is the kitchen can't keep up with the seating capacity and they try to stall when busy at lunch. I'm really torn about going back to Kyara. I love the food but hate being treated like they could give a shit about whether I do or don't. I'll probably give it a month or so then try going a little earlier for lunch. For today, however, I'm pissed. All was not a wash. It was my first time to try Tropical Smoothie and the sandwich and smoothie were both great.
