My husband and I went to a dozen open houses, made a detailed spreadsheet comparing costs and amenities, and really did our research on venues. AWH was our choice because it was both cost effective and flexible. We were required to use only one of their vendors (the bartender), but they provided recommended vendors in other areas. We ended up using their DJ and officiant and were happy with both.
The biggest pluses of this venue were the ability to bring in any caterer and buy our own alcohol. Also important - they decorated the tables for us (candles, beads, etc.) so we didn't have to buy flowers for the tables or make anything on our own. The negatives were that the weather was unexpectedly cold on our day and the venue was rearranged to move the dance floor to a covered area, but the bar wasn't moved. The bartender ended up being really far away from the dance floor and tables.
If I were doing it all over again, I would stick with this venue. For the size of our party (50 people), and our budget, it was great.
