So my non Lao home girl lives in Vegas and she's just discovered the magical goodness better known as Lao food. She's mesmerized by tham mak hung, aka papaya salad and has just learned how to make it while visiting some friends in San Diego. Cool, she got the recipe down, but shoot, she doesn't know how to make the bah dak (smelly mud fish) which goes into the tham mak hung.. So what do I do?? I tell her, "Have no fear, you can buy is premade in a jar!!" Her friends didn't believe moi, such skeptics. So what do I do?? Head over to handy dandy Yelp and look up "Lao Grocery" in Las Vegas, NV. This is the first place that popped up, I call in and ask if they have it, nice young lady answers the phone and wham bam, thank you maam they do!! My girlfriend heads over there that very day, grabs a jar, and goes about her merry way to makin tham mak hung at home.. For days and days in a row. Haha!! Ahh, the joy of having a Lao market near ya!! MAJOR POINTS!!
