Opium is from the makers of Absinthe. Spiegelworlds latest show is located at the Cosmopolitan in the Opium theatre. It's another variety show that pays homage to the 80's like I've never seen.
I was fortunate enough to score opening night tickets and the house was packed.
The Venue:
This is another small venue like Absinthe, so there is not a bad seat in the house. Sitting close to aisles will get you interaction with the crew from the O.P.M. 6.9. Show runtime is about an 1.5 hours, it does get hot in there so plan accordingly.
The bar:
Some funky concoctions were created that included: Kiss My Asteroid, Gorgon's Revenge, Sputnik Cage, and Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. I opted for Kiss My Asteroid and Pan-Galactic in which Asteroid won the taste test. I mean it comes with a packet of pop rocks!!!! Usual bar pricing for a Las Vegas show, 2 drinks ran about $36.
About the show:
From the initial seating you'll have friendly prompts and sound effects that scream 3 decades ago.
The characters are delightful and you'll feel like your living out a scene from the 5th element.
The band is fabulous never skipping a beat, and providing some funky grooves throughout the show
The story is something that has been done before, just without all the pizzazz of a Spiegelworld production.
Overall, the show was great I look forward to seeing what their finished product will look like. Opening night was clear it was a preview. Not any terrible mistakes but something's will be getting tweaked. The audience was asked to fill out critiques on the their way out to highlight the problem areas.
Definitely check out the show, tickets are reasonable. You should be able to snag them for about $79-$129. You can find promo codes on the cosmopolitans site to promote the show.
