This was chosen as the surprise dinner for my birthday on a Sunday evening around 7:00. I was very excited because I have heard a lot about this place and keep forgetting to go during restaurant week.
We had a reservation and waited maybe 10-15 minutes to be seated, but the place was packed and I don't think they set tables aside for reservations necessarily, but I would definitely make one because we noticed others waiting for a lot longer than we did.
The waitress was extremely busy so she ran through what they were all about and recommended some drinks. Throughout the meal, though, she did come back to refill drinks and such.
We went up to the salad bar first to check it out. It's not your standard salad bar- there's sushi, cured meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, bread, different dips and sauces, a huge cheese wheel that you hack away at to get a few bits, soups (lobster bisque yum), and side options for your meats like warm wine infused mushrooms. The salad bar portion featured only lettuce, marinated tomatoes, croutons, fried bacon strips, and salad dressings. They don't have all the toppings that you're used to at a typical salad bar- but everything tasted great and the salad dressings looked and tasted homemade.
When we returned, there were fried plantains and a bowl of awesome mashed potatoes to accompany our meats.
We flipped our cards to green and, even though it was packed, immediately every 5 or so minutes there'd be a different type of meat making its way to us.
The brazilian sausage was AMAZING, the garlic rubbed steak was awesome, as were the lamp chops and ribs. The only thing we didn't care for that we tried was the Parmesan chicken - it is chicken thighs, which I am not a fan of. It was a little gamey and really greasy and not very good.
They also offered me a free dessert since I was celebrating my birthday- I chose creme brûlée which was delicious!
I really enjoyed this experience, but like so many others, you get more full then you've ever felt and tell yourself you will never go back because you've had enough. It's definitely, in my opinion, more suitable for a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion, and not for everyday dining. However I would definitely return and bring some more family members merely to see their faces when presented with meat upon meat upon meat!
