If I could give this place (more so the staff, specifically, Samantha the manager) negative stars, I would happily do so. They may have decent art and good drinks, but that doesn't matter the slightest bit if their staff is completely incompetent and rude. It all started when I was planning the perfect proposal for my perfect girlfriend...our first dinner date was at Soul Gastrolounge so the plan was to have a couple drinks in the gallery beforehand. I made a mosaic using hundreds of pictures of us two and when pieced together it formed a silhouette of a man proposing to a woman. Samantha had tentatively agreed to let me put the mosaic somewhere in the gallery so I could surprise my fiance and propose to her there, then surprise her with a fancy dinner with roses/champagne at Soul. The plan was to rent out the gallery after dinner and have all of our family and friends in the gallery waiting for us to celebrate with post dinner drinks. Samantha originally agreed to all of this and was supposed to send me details on price and set up a meeting with me. Then, weeks and weeks and weeks go by and she never returned my calls, emails, or messages I left with other staff (who specifically told me they tried texting Samatha over and over to get in touch with me). Finally, once she responded 3-4 weeks later (which is now just a couple weeks from my proposal date), she completely failed to apologize for her lack of response and proceeded to increase the price on me. At that point, it was so close to the proposal date that I was forced to find another venue (which in retrospect was a blessing in disguise because I finally proposed at Foundation for the Carolinas which is WAY better than this "Gallery"). In a professional manner, I expressed to Samantha how displeased I was with her service (even her staff seemed to get annoyed with me calling every other day trying to get a hold of Samantha). The added stress of this on top of planning the perfect proposal was unnecessary and unacceptable. I told her I would be forced to write a negative review unless she puts me in touch with the owner, as I believe he/she has a right to know how I was treated and how extremely immature and incompetent his/her staff acted. Of course...no response from Samantha (it has now been 2 months...). How she's the manager of a so-called 4-star Gallery/Bar...I have absolutely no idea and I truly hope this review makes its way to the owner.
