I am coming to the end of my lease here and move out on the 31st. I am an ASU student and to start, want to list the good of University House:
The staff that work the front desk are awesome. They are all students too, remember my name and are always friendly and ready to help out. The location is also perfect! I also think the pool and amenities are very nice for a college apartment. Also, the handy man who comes to do all maintenance requests is so kind and always willing to help.
With that being said, on to the bad. I read a review earlier about sick building syndrome and I'd have to agree that it perfectly describes University House. The air quality is horrible. Also, the apartments are not properly fixed/cleaned in between residents. When we moved in the apartment was filthy and we had to hire our own cleaners to clean the apartment. Many things have also gone wrong this year. Elevators are constantly breaking down, my roommate even got stuck in one for hours when it broke down. There was also a flood that flooded into our room and we had men in and out of our room without any notice. They said we had water damage from the flood and cut open a chunk of our wall. The open wall was then covered with a tarp a week later and wasn't fixed for a month. The company University House hired to fix the water damage also was caught stealing from residents. Later on in the semester, 3 drunk men came into my apartment late at night, assaulted my roommate and stole wallets and keys. When we reported it to HUB security, they said it was our fault for having our door unlocked. While yes I agree we should have locked our door, I also don't feel safe whatsoever with the security hired here. Isn't it their job to not allow strange men wandering the building trying to get into apartments? Overall I would not live here again. I appreciate he front desk staff, but other than that I feel the living conditions are not worth the insanely high prices I am paying for rent.
