Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is a purely volunteer-run organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and adopts out waterfowl. This year alone, they have taken in over 2,000 animals! Yay! They have a great website that describes what they do and birds available for adoption, but FYI: sometimes the pictures they post of the condition of some of the imperiled birds they have helped can be very disturbing. The cruelty of humankind never ceases to sicken me. If you would like to donate without any risk of seeing such photos, you can click on "Donations" and send money without seeing the rest. If you're not squeamish and want the information, explore and be inspired to take action! They are super nice here and are very grateful for any and all help you can offer, including monetary donations, supplies, volunteering with various tasks they need extra people to do (a big plus for them if you're in construction or other skilled trade), or relief work for when storms hit and they need extra hands during a crisis. For now, they are looking for folks to get the barn ready for the birds before the serious cold sets in. Right now they have many ducks up for adoption, including Blue Swedes, Pekins, Rouens, Khaki Campbells, Fawn Runners, Buff, and Muscovys. Available geese include a brown Chinese pair that eats from your hand; a mixed buff Saddleback Pomeranian; some speckled grey and white geese, and a family of white Chinese. Additionally, they have tame white doves and some young swans. If you're looking for a place to donate for end-of-year or would like to help out in person, please consider CWR!
