I own 3 vacation rentals and I wanted to try out some security and home management systems that would allow me to lock doors, set thermostats remotely. Vivint seemed to be a decent company to try out. The system worked well in the beginning, even though I told the installer that AT@T had bad reception in the area, he installed it anyway. I have issues being able to change things remotely now and they will have to come out and change it to a verizon system. They can be out in 2 weeks. I decided to see what the cancellation of service would be and they let me know it would be $2000 to get out of the 3 year contract I signed, I have been having these issues for one year. The way I see it, if there is an issue that needs to be taken care of, they should respond in a timely manner and 2 weeks out, on a security system, is unsatisfactory. Before you go with Vivint, please look at options that dont require long term contract. This technology is abundant today and there HAS to be better deals. If I were to sell the property, I would still be liable for the attached system.
