Do not come to this place for your wedding dress. I had previously gone to davids bridal and found a few dresses I really liked. I had been told that sometimes it's a good idea to look around a bit at a few stores to try and see if maybe you fall in love with another dress somewhere else. On a Wednesday morning 11am-ish, my friend and I stopped off at Sophie's Gown Shoppe so I could try on some dresses. I walked up to the counter where 3 employees were standing and asked if I could try on some dresses. One asked if I had an appointment and I said no, she looked so startled! Heaven forbid I didn't make an appointment, even though it doesn't state anywhere on their website that you need to make one. Keep in mind there was only 1 other bride to be in the store so it's not like it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Now onto the actual experience, after a few minutes of waiting, an older saleslady (cant remember her name) (short, dark hair, glasses) started asking questions about what style and price and I told her what I was looking for. Well clearly she had zero experience in dressing brides since some of the dresses she brought me were hideous! I'm a curvy girl and some of the dresses were just plain awful on me. I complained about one dress making my hips jut out and she said to me UH YOU DON'T HAVE HIPS HONEY! .....Yes actually I do... wth? She finally found one I actually liked, so I tried it on and it looked beautiful. We go out and I stand on the stool, my friend takes out her phone and the sales lady barked, ''NO PICTURES! NO PHONES ALLOWED'' I said, well how am I supposed to make a decision without seeing me in it again. She said that if I loved it enough than I should make a decision that day. UH no. Conveniently enough the dress she put me in had no price tag. So she goes and talks to some other sales people and comes back a few minutes later. The dress is $600 over my budget. I tell her this and she says, we'll you only get married once right! I said I'm sorry but I definitely cant make a decision today, she then tells me if I decide today they will knock $200 bucks off it. That's still $400 over my budget and I didn't even love the damn dress. Finally I tell her no thank you, I'll make up my mind later. She tells me in a huff that if I don't make a decision today there will be no discount later. WOW, worst experience ever. Warning to all brides to be, you'd think because this store is on dundas that the prices would be decent. WRONG. Overpriced, horrible pushy salespeople. Oh and the dress that I liked was $1400, I checked online and you can buy the dress from a wholesaler for $200. Steer clear of this place.
