A friend of mine surprised me with dinner reservations to Narcisi winery as a late birthday present. Awesome. I have been wanting to try this place. When we arrived, I was blown away by how beautiful it is here. The outdoor seating area was gorgeous. Almost makes me want to dump hubs and get remarried so that I could have a wedding here. Seems like the perfect place for such an event on a pleasant summer night. Since we both had never been to NW, our first stop was the wine bar for 3 free tastings. I don't like to think that I am high maintenance when it comes to wine but, I do have a hard time finding something that I like at local wineries mostly because the wine that is produced in PA tends to be fruity and sweet. I most enjoy a dark, dry red. So, I tried a few reds. The stand out was definitely the Stella for me. To me, it had the lightness of a pinot noir but also was full with some depth. We then made our way to the table and ordered. I chose a glass of the stella to go with my meal. Bonus: glasses are only 5-7$ each and bottles are under $20. That's like happy hour prices people! For my entree, I chose the spaghetti bolognese. We sipped on wine and munched on the complimentary bread and dipping oil. I could each that dipping oil everyday. I loved the peppery/tomatoey flavors. Our entrees arrived and we dug in. Definitely one of the better bolognese sauces I have had. I normally can't finish a big plate of pasta but I scooped up every last bit of that sauce. We decided to look at the dessert menu and were pulled in by the fuh-geht-ah-bout-it (sp?) Or forget-about-it. However, there is no way I could ever forget about the rich, gooey, chocolate lava cake that was presented to us. I'm a sucker for chocolate cake and this one did me in. I see it oozing chocolate deliciousness in my dreams. If you are a chocolate fan, don't leave here without trying it. Overall, NW has it all-gorgeous views, great food, inexpensive wine. Now if only they would have shuttle to haul me back to the burgh . . .
