First impression: a little tacky and exaggerated. The restaurant hosts a live DJ Thursday through Sunday, who only serves to play loud radio music. The Thursday special was 20oz of Griffin, blonde or red, for $6. They did have an appropriate sized cocktail list with some interesting options and at reasonable prices. We decided not to start with an appetizer but I really wanted to try the bison tartare (so if someone tries it please let me know how it was!!). We both ordered the hanger steak medium rare, accompanied with steamed veggies and fries. Aside from the steak being beautifully cooked, it was seasoned with a simple Montreal steak spice. Was hoping for something more original from a restaurant with beef in its name. I can't say I expected much from the sides but for $24 the cook could have grilled the veggies and just do the fries differently (more crisp maybe?). Interestingly the steak came with a spoonful of cipollinis, which according to foodterms.com are "bittersweet bulbs of the grape hyacinth that taste and look like small onions". I liked this small part if the dish the most because it was original and paired nicely with the steak. The food was alright. The service was great. If I came back it would not be for a meal, but to grab a beer and a snack.
