Rhyolite is a great day trip from Las Vegas for sure. It's a very intact ghost town. It's hard to believe how many of these towns grew up when there was mining activity, and then most of them died just as quickly. Take US 95 toward Reno from downtown Las Vegas. In Beatty, turn left heading toward Death Valley. Rhyolite is only 4 miles from Beatty, Nevada.
