Love this place! Our visit coincided with the the Grand Opening of the Bar area, where papparazzi was all over and kitschy, artsy patrons abound.
Interesting bistro, bar and gallery combo where a trip to the restroom may find you staring at rather risque artwork from local artists. Good thing my 67 year old mother is no longer the shy, reticient maiden she once was. :p
Foodwise, our choice included:
1. Pizza Margharita ($9): 3 stars, excellent choice for a 4 year old
2. Garlic Pollo with Spanish Sherry Butter ($7): 4 stars, comes with bread so you can mop up all of that saucy goodness
3. Tempura Alcachofa / Long Stemmed Artichoke Hearts with Curry Aioli ($6): 5 stars, the deep fried puffy greasiness of the artichoke hearts complemented the surprising tartness of the curry aioli sauce
4. Paella Velasquez ($28): 5 stars, big enough to share and brimming with seafood (lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp)
5. Donut Churros ($7): 4 stars, hot mini-donuts dusted with confectioner's sugar to be dipped in hot chocolate and surprise, surprise ... a hint of pepper hits you on the aftertaste!
Decided to try their Tuesday night Sangria specials (alas, not available in the bar area so it was not cheap at $6 a pop). Just ok although refreshing.
Interesting line-up of activities on other nights of the week: Tuesday Sangria specials, Friday night Community Art Festivals, Lechon (roasted pig) every other Saturday from lunch to dinner. What a great find!
