Home made fries and chips! Tough decision. My husband loves this place but I have to admit it took me at least 2 tries to warm up. Mostly because I'm easily influeced by ambiance, and this place has none. At least now there's people eating when I go there...at the beginning it was always just us with our kids. But getting to the important part...the food here is surprisingly fresh and original. The salads use spinach or good lettuce (aka "no iceberg"). The sandwiches have tons of meat and veggies, all fresh. And again, home made fries and home made chips. My husband has tried the calzones and he liked them. But the best surprise was when we ordered the kids some chicken strips. Usually, they are your typical boring kids meal, right? Wrong! These strips have a great batter, which is salty and herby and so flavourful there's no need to dip them in ranch or other sauces. Even though you can order a variety of wing sauces to dip them in. Now we always get the chicken strips, for the kids or us. They are excellent. The place again, is not the place to take somebody for a romantic date. The "bakery counter" is full of cold beers, a very large variety, and they also have beers on tap. I've usually gone there for lunch, but based on the amount of alcohol they have recently piled everywhere, I'm assuming they are trying to attract more of an evening crowd. I read another review calling this a sports bar, but I can't even recall seeing a TV in there. Is there? Could it be that they turn them off during the day and therefore I don't see them? Awesome!!! *** I've been reminded to add that the quality of the food and the speed of service is just not there when the main cook is off. Check in the kitchen (behind the counter). If the cook is not a woman, leave. It's not worth it.
