Since the hotel I was staying at didn't have any eateries open at 4 in the morning, I walked across the street to the SLS. I looked at the menu posted outside the restaurant and found something I could eat (I'm on a restricted diet). I walked in, was seated and then handed an abbreviated menu. The selection I wanted wasn't served until 6 am. I ordered a salad after inquiring about another menu item. The salad was decent and I waited for my bill. My bill came out to $16.11 and I gave the waiter a $20. He comes back with $3 change. Because I needed a couple of nickles for something I needed to do later, I asked him about my missing $0.89. He went off to go find change and tossed $0.85 in the bill folder on the table. I grabbed a couple nickles and left him a $3.79 tip even though the service was average at best. All the waiters didn't seem overly friendly to any of the 6 or 7 groups of patrons in the restaurant. If I ever stay at the hotel I did, I will make sure I plan better for early morning food needs than go back to the Northside Cafe. Note: 1 plus month post visit: emailed the manager after she sent me the form email reply. Never heard back from her but didn't expect it either.
