So I have been to George's Play many times before and where else can you dance with a Trani-Santa Claus in July to Latin Music? I like it, it is small and pretty unpretentious. People are polite and the drinks are cold. Chris Edwards show is pretty awesome, a little vulgar but highly entertaining... Overall it is pretty great. So before I would have given Play a 4/5 for their good music, fun crowd, various but non-nefarious character's... But I had a rather disappointing Saturday there just yesterday. I went out to George's Play with 4 others, and we were interested in a night of dancing, rocking out and drinking. We had a delicious dinner, and then thought we would hit up Play as we had many other fired up nights... Except, they MUST have a new DJ, On Saturday night anyway. The mixing, the song selection, the beat blending, they general music choices were unlike before, and very un-fun for dancing. Instead of the usual Dance, Pop & Top 40's along with Latin Selections mixed with strong fluid beats, the music was more reflective of an illegal & chemically enhanced underground circuit party. I like this bar, its comfortable for everyone, the crowd is usually awesome and diverse, but the new Saturday Night DJ needs to read the crowd better, Everyone looks confused.
