Brandy Hotchner has been running her Monday Night Acting Workshops in the Valley for several years, but recently moved from Space 55 to the Phoenix Theatre Complex and launched Arizona Actors Academy. I have been her student for almost two years and I truly do not have enough excellent things to say about her, but first I would say that I wished I saved my tuition money from college and had spent it on Brandy. In just one year with her, I have learned more about acting than in my four years of college. I have learned to better use my instrument, develop a portfolio that shows off my skills as an actor and to keep my monologues audition ready at all times. Plus, my audition and cold read skills have greatly improved. I am a much more confident and prepared actor.
Brandy's classes are very much in the style of the New York and L.A. studios. They can be bit intense, but I find that they are a safe environment that an actor can work and push their craft to new levels. Brandy pushes her actors towards truth and honesty and she will always be honest with you - good or bad. I personally prefer an honest acting coach rather than one that tells me I am good when I am not and just takes my money.
