Osteria isn't high end or innovative, nor does it pretend to be. What you do get is reasonably good homemade pasta at a reasonably good price. The atmosphere is kind of industrial cafeteria, so not the place you want to go for a romantic dinner. If you want higher end Italian in a more intimate atmosphere with a better wine list there are other options in town (Dish, Jos Tambellini, Stagioni). There are also a ton of run of the mill mom and pop pasta joints that have a loyal, older following and serve ridiculously large portions - Osteria is certainly a cut above these. You just have to go in with the right expectations.
