What a mess! Mill Avenue was once a place of tattoo parlors and biker bars. Then it got cleaned up and improved. It was then really nice. Having previously worked nearby for several years, I had not visited Mill Avenue for about a year. I did so today. I am shocked at the changes in the past year. Did Tempe change the zoning to allow the open air loud music multi-screen scuzzy beer dives that now line the street? I can't imagine even drunk college kids thinking that these places are fun or interesting. Maybe I'm wrong, there were lots of drunks there--but not sure if they were college kids or bikers. Just walking up and down today I counted 3 tattoo parlors and one tattoo removal place across the street. I guess which side of the street you are on depends on just how drunk you are. I would avoid this at all costs. And I used to like Mill Avenue a lot. Things change. Sometimes not for the better. Tempe, get your act together and re-civilize Mill Avenue.
