I love the Y Eatery. How can I explain why? The Y Eatery (aka Thai at the Y, or just Y-Thai) a small Thai 'restaurant' stuck in the campus YMCA, open only for lunch on days school is in session. They have maybe 6-8 pre-made entrees every day. The pad thai (available in tofu/seitan and turkey/shrimp varieties) is the most popular item, and rightfully so. There are other options, which are good enough, but something about the pad thai (crack, perhaps) keeps people coming back for more on a disturbingly regular basis. I can't bring myself to give the place an 'excellent,' given that it's sort of a one-trick pony, but it's always the first place I head when I'm back visiting Champaign, after years of eating there almost every week.
