If you are in Scottsdale there are better places you could stay than this hotel. We arrived and checked into the hotel and when we went to our room we opened the door to a strong "smoke" smell. We immediately went and got another room. The second room smelt better but was in need of repairs. The tub was chipping in the bottom, the grout in the bathroom was cracking and crumbling off the walls, and whoever cleaned this room needs a lesson because there were long hairs stuck to the shower wall and hairs all over the floor. Regardless of the "no smoking" signs on the room doors people smoke in this hotel! We came and went for two days doing different things in the valley and every time we were walking to our room we passed areas that stunk of smoke! A huge turn off! One night we went to the bar and ordered drinks. My husband drank an entire drink before we noticed a huge crack in the side of his glass! Next time I am in AZ I will definitely be staying somewhere else. Regardless of upgrades and renovations this hotel is still in need of a major facelift. The only reason I rated it two stars was because there is security in the hotel at night and for the view of the lake.
