Move-U might consider a few alt names: Lose-U, because they lost an expensive chair of ours, lost our Inventory List (still haven't sent, 2 months later) and lost some of your belongings (because they delivered them to us). Another name: F-U, because they threw one of our shelves in the garbage (for real), broke a bookshelf, broke a filing cabinet, broke a sofa bed, and broke their own Contract.
Or maybe Move-U would consider, Broke-U, because they have yet to replace anything they broke or compensate us even though in their own contract they state:
"Move-U Packing & Moving guarantees NO DAMAGE to ANY Household furnishings or Household Items that we move, and we guarantee NO DAMAGE to any box that we pack. Packed by Owner boxes are not included in this guarantee.
Move-U will insure your Household Items to $1MM while in our care, at no additional cost to you."
So, let's just forget they were 2 hours late on moving day, and let's forget that instead of 3 guys, 2 showed up and one wasn't really a fan of packing things and even less a fan of moving them, and let's just forget that a 3-hour job took, literally, 8 hours. Let's just go for the big stuff, the stuff that, hopefully, will help you decide to go with a reputable moving company and not Move-U Packing & Moving.
1. When one of our chairs wasn't delivered, and we inquired about it with Levi Ferrin, he insisted he never picked it up in the first place. So, we sent him a photograph of the chair in our home, which didn't seem to convince him either. The chair is quite expensive, which made us a little suspect of Levi's motives, so we went online and, both fortunately and unfortunately, Levi Ferrin posts photographs of the contents of your home (without telling you or asking permission) so we literally found a photograph of our chair in his storage unit! We sent him the photo of our chair in his storage facility. Guest what he did? Denied it was there.
Eventually, after several emails and phone calls of us trying to convince him that he, in fact, had the chair, he miraculously found it.
2. We received several items that didn't belong to us, begging the question: What else is missing? Who knows, he still hasn't sent us the Inventor List. We have emails from him saying, "I'll send you the inventory list tomorrow" and then phone a convo where he says, "I was stalling, the inventory list is on my hard drive which crashed and is in California being repaired."
Levi Ferrin said that he would replace the bookshelf, as well as the shelf that his crew literally threw in the garbage (still have no idea why). He didn't. And, he didn't even respond to the sofa bed they broke.
Even though Move-U Packing & Moving made us sign a contract that they won't damage your stuff and if they do they are covered to 1MM, they have not made any effort to replace or pay us for the measly $1,053 of furniture they either broke or threw out. We didn't even ask for the $300 for the filing cabinet to be replaced, because we were so disillusioned by all the rest.
Please, do yourself, and your family, a favor and use a reputable mover. Move-U Packing & Moving is a bully who doesn't honor their contract or contents of your home. Lesson learned.
