I greatly enjoy living in 44 Monroe and will be sad to leave when my lease ends, but I'm moving out of state.
Pros: The staff is pleasant. The managers always speak to me in the elevator. And the security remembered my name quickly and those of most of my friends that regularly visit. The security even acts as a doorman - which is not his job - and lets my guests up often without me having to come down to get them.
The response times to email and maintenance requests have been close to immediate. I can not complain in that area.
I have a southeast facing unit, so my view is beautiful both day and night. There is not a comparable view to mine in Phoenix. I see the Chase Field fireworks from my sofa; South Mountain from my bed; the Superstition Mountains from my dining table; and Camelback Mountain from my patio.
The price point for the two bedrooms is accessible for a big city downtown - less than $1,000 each for me and my roommate. Is it more than most places in Phoenix? Of course. But a comparable apartment in another large city would be at least twice this price, thus pricing me out of the downtown urban experience.
Cons: I wish the pool was nicer, but I don't swim or layout anyway so I'm okay with that. And I wish the grill worked more consistently, but 7 out of ten times I've needed it, it worked.
