I co-signed (I never lived there) for my Mom who lived there in 2015, 3 weeks after she moved in she was diagnosed with Cancer and passed away 4 weeks later. I was still locked into my lease until February which I understood. I moved out her boxes, since she hadn't even unpacked yet, cleaned the apartment and the carpet. I took the receipt for the carpet cleaning (it was a hand-written receipt since it was a small company which a friend of mine owned) to the office and turned in my keys. The young man said thank you, I asked him to do an inspection he said he was alone and couldn't do it. I should have insisted, that is on me. Weeks later I get a call from their collection agency stating that I owe $123 for carpet cleaning, I explained my situation they said ok and that was it. Now it's? 2018, I pull my credit and 3 weeks ago they put a negative mark on my credit, right when I am buying a house. I haven't heard a word from them in 3 years and I was told that it was taken care of. My Mom passed away and was in that apartment for 3 WEEKS, HOW GREEDY CAN YOU BE!!!! They were nice when we were there, but the moment I had to leave the attitudes changed. Now I have no option but to pay the money. It's not that much money but the principal of how unprofessional, incompetent and completely heartless they are, makes me sick. At what point do you say ok we do the right thing?
