Great experience! Even though I'm still recovering from a sprained ankle and didn't shop for shoes myself, I went with 3 friends, 2 of whom purchased shoes. As soon as I'm able to run again I wouldn't hesitate to come back.
Each of my friends had different running needs and preferences. The Red Rock staff who helped us (father/daughter) worked with us as the gang tried on a number of different shoes, allowing everyone to run on the treadmill or run outside as they saw fit to make a comfortable decision.
Unlike some other running shoe stores, this place didn't charge any money to do a gait diagnosis, and they also weren't pushy at all. One friend wasn't ready to make a decision yet and they didn't make any issue out of it, telling her to take her time and make sure she got a shoe she liked, whether at their store or somewhere else.
The evaluation works by having you run on a treadmill, and then they watch the playback in slow motion to see how you naturally run. Then, they have you try different shoes to see how your gait changes with more support or less. Even though my friends had trouble deciding and went through the process a dozen times, they stayed patient.
For a local store, I was expecting the prices to be higher than online, but was pleasantly surprised afterwards to see that the shoe prices were the same in store and online. Given that, I'd rather come in to see the shoes and also support local owners!
