I spent years somehow not stopping in Cartel, and finally broke down to check it out. It has such a great atmosphere! I was there to catch up with a friend but plenty of people were working, meeting with big groups, or just popping in to grab a quick coffee.
I was really excited about the build your own coffee with their three different brew methods - Chemex pour over 20oz, V60 drip in 12oz or 16oz, and AeroPress for 8 oz. On top of all these brew methods they had 6 different coffee beans to choose from. I had the Chemex of the Nyeri Hill coffee. They were busy so it took about 15 minutes for us to get it, and they served our coffee to us in a glass carafe that was way too hot to handle. Once I made my friend beat the burden of pouring the coffee, I wasn't blown away by the flavor. But I will say the description of "intense blood orange and pomegranate" is no lie. At other coffee shops I've had plenty of roasts claiming flavor where there really is only one if you use your imagination - Cartel was not at all like that.
In addition to this they had everything else you'd expect from a coffee shop, plus some beer taps, plus a wall of merch, plus a location that's perfect to grab a cup of coffee to go and stroll through shops.
Definitely worth checking out!
