Keep in mind that the market only runs from early October to mid-May each year (check their website for exact dates).
That said, this is a great way to spend a Saturday morning! Yes, parking can be a challenge but then Vincent (yes, the chef/owner Vincent) comes out and starts directing cars. So he wins me over with his charm. Plus, now you can apparently park in the new commercial building next to the 7-Eleven for free which is very convenient!
So back to the market...it's not much of a farmer's market if you're looking to buy local produce, etc. If that's what you want, head to the downtown farmer's market. This is more of a place to go and have brunch...grab a mimosa or coffee drink and enjoy one of the delectable offerings. Everything from tamales, pizza, crepes, street tacos, omelettes, pastries, bbq, etc. You can easily go for two months without having the same thing twice.
It's a real family affair with several of Vincent's sons pitching in at various food stations. There are several other vendors, selling gourmet chocolate, bread, honey, tablecloths, jewelry, etc. And, yes, the Brophy boys are there with their Cookies-in-a-Jar fundraiser smiling and passing out samples each weekend. And that's where we get to this and my 5-Star rating: what this Saturday market offers is tons of charm and a real sense of community which is often hard to find in sprawling cities like ours. You start to see the regulars, you learn to bring a newspaper, grab your brunch selection and find your spot in the sun. Then you just sit back and enjoy.
