Winchells is my favorite donut shop because they are one of the very few doughnut shops I know of (other than a couple grocery stores) that have the old fashioned frosted cake doughnuts. I came here often while pregnant as I craved them daily. My older son also loves them.
However here is the reason I gave 3 stars instead of 5. My son wanted me to take doughnuts to his class for his birthday. I tried calling this location a couple days ahead and the phone number that I found that worked went to the adjacent subway. The girl there yelled over to the man working at winchells while I could still hear. He apparently didn't speak or understand English because she spoke down to him asking my questions such as "what time-o" "how much-o" "what's the cost-o" Very rude! I tried calling other winchells and no other phone numbers worked. (PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!) I went in the next day and the woman at the counter told me she would write down my order and to come back after 4pm as that was when the next baker would be in. I did, and the Spanish speaking man had no note and no idea of what I was talking about. He said I had to call in my order 24 hours ahead and there was no way he could help me. Very disappointing. I had to go up the street to a competitor donut shop who was extremely willing to accommodate my order..
I love their doughnuts but this customer service experience really turned me off!!!
