Was out doing the yearly visit to Pittsburgh and decided it was time to do some fine dining. I came across Meat & Potatoes through Yelp, and secured a reservation. Since there were only two of us, we decided to forego the main course and just stick with the mouthwatering appetizers. In order of favorites (tartare and bone marrow may have been tied, to be honest): *Tartare - perfectly boiled egg with solid protein, and runny yolk served on top of a heaping portion of steak tartare. I don't know if it was the egg, the seaweed aioli, or the dry aged steak, but the flavors of this dish just worked! Must have if we return! *Bone Marrow - not one, not two, but FOUR tyrannosaurus rex sized bones! There was toasted bread and an assortment of toppers (sea salt, capers, etc) as well. Needless to say, the two of us didn't finish all 4 bones. *Fried Pickles - thick, half-inch cut circles deep fried perfectly and with great side of spicy ranch. We asked for an additional side of the truffle mayo ($1 charge) for dipping options. *Poutine - probably our least favorite dish, and why this place can't get 5 stars in my book. The flavors overall were good but the fries were overly salted, and the curds were almost non-existent, and the dish really didn't stand up in any way. Overall, I'd definitely consider coming back to Meat & Potatoes next year! If I lived in Pittsburgh, I would definitely become a regular.
