Call me crazy, but if I go to a coffee house I want a good cup of coffee, and 720 delivers and then some. A lot of people in the neighborhood go to Espresso a Mano, and their coffee is really good. But it is hipster central and is always, always packed with people pecking away on their macs. 720 is, to me, a much mellower, and dare I say, cooler vibe. There's seating as soon as you go in, plus there's extra seating waaaay in the back, which is usually where I set. The music they play is always great (R&B, hip hop, pop, electronica) and the barristas are friendly and genuine.
Not only is their coffee fantastic, but they have a nice selection of loose leaf tea, which they use to make hot and cold bevs that are excellent.
If you do need to go online, they have very fast WiFi, plenty of outlets for your portable devices.
The owners have done a great job incorporating items for sale into the store. There's a thoughtful collection of vinyl/music here (heavy on r&b/soul), plus vintage clothing and accessories, plus a scattering of books. I'd encourage you to visit to browse the merchandise, even if you don't want a cuppa.
720 is a terrific addition to the lineup of stores and retailers along Butler Street. I'm imagining they will get even busier since the coffee house next door, Perk Me Up, recently closed.
