Today was my daughter's birthday party and we had ordered a cake from this Giant Eagle earlier in the week. As the party was approaching and we were getting ready to pick up the cake we received a call saying that the toppers we had ordered earlier in the week were not in stock (literally less than an hour before we were supposed to pick it up) and they could not complete the cake......we could just have it without the toppers that my girls had picked out. I understand that sometimes things happen but they didn't offer any other resolution. I spoke with the customer service manager and she was defensive about them making the mistake. I shared that I was not willing to pay for a cake that was different than what I ordered she reluctantly offered a discount and I was not willing to pay anything at that point. She was willing to lose a life long customer over $30 which I thought was crazy. After getting no where I called their customer service hotline and the representative was very understanding and apologetic - he told me he couldn't make them do anything but agreed they should have done more - so he actually asked me to go in a pay for the cake and he would send me a check for the amount that I paid plus some additional for my trouble. I was happy that he took responsibility but was utterly disgusted with the "Front End" manager named Linda who wanted to argue with me rather than be accountable for a mistake that was made by her store.
