We all know how dicey it an be to obtain any type of service albeit primary care, dentistry, optometry, car care etc. Having moved back to the valley in '03 I was looking for a dentist somewhere close to where I live. I didn't have time to get any referrals so saw his name in the insurance directory. I chose Dr. Ted Tang because 1) He was close to my home, 2) His name is the same as my cousin (he is not a dentist btw).
There was a year that I changed jobs and chose a cheaper insurance plan that did not include Dr. Tang and I was forced to choose another dentist for that year. What a disaster. The next year I chose the more costly insurance plan and was greeted with tears of joy by Dr. Tang and his staff (more payments for his condo in Tahiti right? haha)
Dr. Tang is very knowledgeable and does not recommend "up-charge" procedures but only suggests possible services and leaves it up to you to decide. He is very thorough in explaining certain procedures and is always cheerful and amicable.
The hygienist is very thorough (no pain, no gain right?) and she talks just enough, and tries time her questions just when you're able to answer them (not when there's 10 instruments crammed in your mouth). I like that she keeps that saliva vacuum in your mouth the whole time so you're not drooling all over your $500 Hermes tie (I don't have one, but if I did, I would appreciate this).
When I retire, I want the receptionists' job. She gets to sit there all day and just be nice and friendly, handing out free toothbrush, toothpaste and floss to each customer. :)
Another cool thing is that when you get your cleaning card punched 10 times he gives you a discount coupon to Ruth's Chris steak house. Be sure to mention that because they sometimes forget to inform the patients.
Oh and he also has manly magazines (sports illustrated, guns/ammo, muscle car, mountain biking etc)
