I lived at Lucera for several years. Here are the pros and cons of this complex. Let's start with the positives (pros): 1) The office staff has always been very friendly and helpful 2) Maintance issues were always fixed promptly 3) It's affordable 4) Centrally located 5) Big trees throughout the complex provide nice shade 6) They are clearly trying to improve the place and they really do care. All of the cons below are easily fixable and I still recommend at least checking the place out to see what improvements have been made. The cons: 1) As another reviewer said it's incredibly loud! The windows, doors and walls are very thin. Neighbors play music and have parties at all hours and the pools are very loud too. 2) There seems to be a some of crime. In all fairness it may have less than other complexes in the area. 3) There was trash throughout the complex. It wasn't uncommon to find beer bottles and cans on my steps in the morning. 4) The covered parking may not be near your apartment. Mine was practically on the other side of the complex. 5) There always seemed to be just random people in the complex. For example, people from complex next door would come over and use our pool because their complex didn't have one. Or one time I was stopped by a homeless man as I was entering my apartment and asked if I had any spare change. For gated community it is easy for other people to get in. My advice to management is: 1) Fix the gates to prevent non-residents from entering. 2) Conduct better background and credit checks 3) Hire a night watchman or form an active neighborhood watch 4) Find ways to reduce noise such as replace windows and doors, and strictly enforce rules. Lucera has potential and you should at least check it out.
