Had a good stay here. Room was nice and comfortable, though not stupendously large. I like the low-key approach to bed-making: basically, a nice, clean comforter. Found the bed very comfortable. Location was okay. Looking at a map, it didn't seem to me like a long walk to the Old City; that impression was incorrect. But there is a Metro stop one block away, and a couple of depanneurs (convenience stores) two blocks away, and a taxi stand right next to the hotel. So, in that sense, it was all good. Real stand-out was the staff -- courteous, professional, attentive, friendly, nice, and helpful. Every interaction was lovely. Have to take off one star for WiFi. Though I very much appreciate that it was free -- data roaming rates are ridiculously expensive for users of US phone service in Canada, so WiFi connectivity plays an outsized role in one's visit to Canada -- the Sofitel's WiFi was clunky to connect to and slow.
