I have been a loyal Canada Computers shopper for years, but I find that this store has problems compared to CC at Spadina and College. I'm not sure whether this store is just badly managed or that they strictly follow corporate policy. Either way, if you have problems here, try dealing with the College Street shop and you may get farther.
A few years back, I bought a cable for a client at this location to connect his old parallel printer to his modern USB-enabled computer. Within a couple days, though, he called me to say that the cable had literally burned at the parallel end. So he takes the cable back to the shop and they tell him that there's no warranty on cables. Ontario law lets you have a no-exchanges-or-returns policy - as long as you aren't selling fire hazards. My client gave me the cable and I took it to the College store prepared to go to war. One look at it and they said "yeah, this is defective. Here's your store credit."
Today, I overheard a customer come in to claim CC's price-matching policy as he bought anti-virus software at twice (!) the price that Best Buy was selling it at. They called out a few guys, including the manager, who said that they couldn't do the price match because it would cause them to sell the software below stocking cost. The problem, though, is that their fine print makes no mention whatsoever about that catch - as long as it's exactly the same product bought in the same city, you can get your price matched, it says.
I sympathised as the customer got more frustrated trying to explain to them that when you guarantee something in writing, you can't just change it when a customer tries to enforce it. I left the store, deciding not to buy what I was planning to, before the dispute resolved. The fact that he even had to defend his position makes me seriously doubt the moral integrity of this location, if not Canada Computers itself.
