As every local knows, finding a competent stylist in Southern Nevada is a crap shoot. Too many stylists just out of beauty school, working at high-end salons charging big bucks for a hatchet job.
So when my previous (awesome) stylist finally decided it was time to be leaving Las Vegas I went 6 months before my thick, wavy hair started attracting nest-building birds.
I made a facebook friends plea, asking if anyone had a stylist they LOVED. (Only 3 of my friends did, which tells you a lot about the state of stylists in this town - and yes, I have a decent amount of friends. Not middle-school popular number of friends but I digress...)
I was referred to Melissa at Green Turtle so took a chance and made an appointment.
Just my luck, she's not only competent but extremely skilled. Young enough to know all the trends but old enough to inspire confidence. And she listened and honored my request, instead of charging ahead and doing what she wanted like so many self-absorbed stylists in this town seem to do! (And I'm sure she wanted to take more of the damaged length off and fix my at-home color job - which she didn't give me any grief about AND gave me some great tips to improve my box job!)
The salon is beautiful and they offer a full-range of services at very competitive prices. The owner made a point of introducing herself and welcoming me to her salon, and the receptionist was very friendly both on the phone and in person.
