Giving Dick's two stars (and not one), because to be fair, we didn't really stick around long enough to check out the goods. :P *snort*
Like another reviewer, we came to Dick's as part of a bachelorette party that I was spearheading. It was a Friday night, about 10 o'clock.
Location:
-"bowels of industrial Phoenix" as mentioned by others, is quite the adequate description. I actually asked the taxi driver if he was sure he was going the right way.
-parking lot was nearly empty, save 3-4 vehicles.
-I asked the taxi driver to wait outside with my girls while I checked out Dick's. *snort* That's how unsafe this place appeared.
Ambiance:
-only got to see the foyer/entryway, as I never paid for entry. Reminiscent of a dive bar. I requested to just peek inside to determine whether the joint was suitable for me and the bachelorette party; was told no.
-cashier/greeter was not very polite, firmly told me the cover was $20 a head and was non-negotiable. I asked him if there were any bachelorette specials... he asked me how many we had... I said 6... and he replied, only for parties of 10 or more, which led me to believe he made it up on the spot. He also never mentioned anything about a discount, which I noted as available on Yelp for check-in (didn't notice til after we left).
-when I asked if there were any guests at all inside, he said yes. When I asked if there were any women, he said no, that there were three male patrons inside. I have no issue sharing stripper space with people attracted to the same sex (hell, I go to female strip clubs all the time), just wanted to make a note of this for people who were wondering. This place caters to gay men, straight ladies, and all variations in between.
Staff:
-the cashier/greeter, while not being helpful, friendly, or trying to convince me to bring everyone inside, was good looking. So were several dancers who peered into the entryway as I deliberated whether or not to stay.
As a note, while I was inside trying to haggle the dude for a reasonable price ($120 to just get in the door is NOT reasonable), another car load of ladies pulled up. When they heard it was $20 each, they left before I even came back outside. Conclusion: if Dick's would offer reasonable coverage ($10-12 like most strip clubs), they would have more clientele.
I may be back to take advantage of that check-in offer, and to see if the carpet matches the drapes... err... if the inside of the strip club matches the entry. Dive-a-licious!
