I'm a big fan of theYMCA in general and have had a family membership at various YMCA's wherever I have lived. I recently relocated back to the burbs of Cleveland (west side) and looked up the local YMCA. The WestShore YMCA, while more intimate, more of a boomer and senior vibe than some of the other Y's I've belonged, has grown on me as well. Much of the equipment does not have all the bells and whistles that I've experienced, but there really isn't anything lacking in functionality. The pool is very nice and kept on the warmer side which is great in the winter. There is a nice dry sauna in the dressing area. Parking is convenient and there is a strong sense of community. The staff is friendly and hard working. If you are having financial hardship, the YMCA is often able to provide a scholarship or discount. One of these days I'll have to try a pilates, cycling or weights class...I'm in a rut with my elliptical and ipod. Thank you YMCA!
