Walking into Bobbette and Belle, it feels more like a designer showroom than a bakery. The decor is beyond impressive, and the wall of designer wedding cakes is gorgeous. If you watch daytime television, the head baker frequently hosts baking segments on Marilyn. This is my fourth visit and i have had their tarts, macarons and cupcakes. What they excel at is the latter. They accommodate both lovers of frosting and buttercream, and the staff are knowledgeable enough to decipher the difference and not pass the frosting off as buttercream like so many bakeries do. On my most recent visit i had the salted camel cupcake with a vanilla cake, and caramel drizzle and buttercream. The cake was more dense than usual, but the vanilla flavour was so prominent, and there were visible vanilla bean flecks which i appreciate. The butterceam was satiny, my only wish was that there was more salt.
Overall the pastries that they serve at Bobbettes are traditional but updated, and they are both pleasing to the eye and palette.
