I dunno if this is THE BEST BBQ i've EVER had.... but it is definitely the best i've had in phoenix!
they offer this family special - the whole hog heaven, which is st louis style ribs, bbq pork, bbq beef brisket, and bbq chicken, plus 2 sides, for around $30, which feeds 2-3 people. so we ordered one of these, plus a 3 meat combo (2 orders of baby back ribs + more bbq beef brisket). oh my word. so much meat! tasty, glorious, juicy, succulent meat! i heartily recommend the st louis ribs over the baby backs, bc they were cooked SO tender and were so nice and meaty.
it was alllllllll good! and their spicy bbq sauce? love it! for sides, we tried the grilled corn, mashed potatoes, and shoestring fries. i'd say forget the fries, but definitely get some of that corn! and the cornbread.... well. it was pretty good, but i did expect better.
i saved some room for dessert, and we tried the apple griddle cake. it was like.... cooked apples on top of a custard-like crust. we were expecting it to be more of an apple pie type deal, so it was slightly disappointing. and it also wasn't awesome, but it was still good. i adore how they give you a cute little bag of hot, fresh donuts! they were delish, and still tasty the next morning.
a little deals heads up - if you go on sundays, the whole hog heaven meal is a bit cheaper. can't remember the exact numbers since i didn't pick up the tab, but it's a screamin' deal!
