"Pub" is a little bit of a misnomer for Dickens - it is a typical basement dance floor. Packed with goth'ish and punk'y figures, but with quite a few other random folks.
It is dark, crowded, ear-plugging loud, dense place - with its atmosphere shaped by 20-something kids who aggressively refuse to grow up. Everything from "pre-pay cash and get stamped" entry, to choice of loud sound, is catering to this kind of public. Picky in their way, so where aligned with clientele's tastes - quality is definitely present.
Nothing wrong with Dickens, just know where are you going - and set expectations appropriately. You can also get drunk there, right. Oh, and food... sorry, which food??
