Another Phoenix gem hidden in a strip mall... Touch of Thai has an extensive menu that includes beef, chicken, pork, seafood, and dedicated vegetarian sections. Since I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices, I let our wonderful server, Nick, choose for me -- on two separate occasions. I indicated that I wanted something spicy-hot, a thick gravy/sauce, and some vegetables. One time he selected a delectable red curried vegetable beef plate, the other was a yellow penang curried salmon platter. Without fail, each plate was skillfully prepared, spiced to my preference, extremely tasty, and served with a smile. I enjoy the communal rice that comes with most menu selections, the five or so spices that are brought to the side of each table, and the relaxed atmosphere. I noticed one reviewer comment that some of the dishes are simple variations on Chinese fare. Although all of the dishes had their Thai names listed next to them, there might be some truth to that criticism. But in the end, so what -- you can't go wrong. And as I type this review, I'm starting to think that I'm going to make it an early lunch there today. PROS: Everything tastes (so damn) good Large menu (something for everyone) Nick (a very nice and extremely helpful server) Rather inexpensive Laid back and casual atmosphere CONS: When it gets crowded, you'll be waiting (as it seems to be understaffed) Some menu items seem to be more Chinese than Thai (but good nonetheless, so I don't really know if that's a true con)
