This is my roommate from China's favorite Chinese restaurant in Oakland. He says they prepare the food like his mother did, but he also mentioned that he doesn't think his mother's cooking is that good. There is a rumor that Szechuan favors Asian students which seems to be true according to my roommate who was able to order meals after hours.
Based on my experiences, the food quality and preparation time were on par with the other American style Chinese restaurants on the corner of Oakland Ave and Forbes. Szechuan is a little cheaper but the entree typically consists of a little less meat.
