Omg, this is an absolutely gorgeous house! It's on par with Filoli. The museum also has many of the previous owner's belongings so the exhibits are authentic.
This museum is located right next to Olympic Park and is at the end of a residential street. At first it looked like it was closed because there were no cars In the driveway and I didn't see any people milling around. The door was also locked. However, when the docent saw me at the door, she opened it and let me in. The docent was very friendly. She gave me a little information about the house and its owners. She also lent me an iPad containing info for a self guided tour.
The house is amazing. I love beau arts design. There are descriptions about the family and history posted throughout the museum.
I wish the government took more time to market this jewel of a museum. There is no gift shop or book about the house and family. If it ran like Filoli, they'd be packing them in. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know about this place. There was one other family besides me doing the tour.
A definite must see if you are into architecture and looking at things from a by gone age!
