Shamone is a pretty awesome addition to the emerging Junction bar scene. On a recent visit Anita the Monday and Tuesday night bartender was doing the work of three people with a smile. Here are a few insider tips: 1. Cocktails are inexpensive and are generally above average to good in terms of quality. 2. On Monday night they do complimentary charcuterie platters all around the bar. This is great on one hand, yet not super hygienic-looking once you sit down in front of a board that has been picked over already by the people who say their before you. Also, lots of friends of the staff and people with the munchies on Monday night, so more of a crowd. 3. They have more of a European beer focus, which fills a nice niche in the neighbourhood. 4. In addition to beer they advertise wines by the glass from common, well-known wineries. 5. They provide complimentary peanuts with the beer, which are great. 6. The bar is a reimagined, more grown-up version of Marget that was in the space before. It is still odd and funky without trying too hard to fit an easy categorization such as "hipster" or "trendy".
