Just a short drive from Ballantyne/South Charlotte, Treehouse Vineyards in Monroe is a great little reprieve. As Shauna mentioned, you will drive through a somewhat sketchy neighborhood to get to the Vineyards, but upon arrival, it is secluded. The tasting room is average size and here you can sample most of their regular wines. They use only grapes grown on the property, and since muscadines are the only grapes that grow well in this area, the wines are all at least semi-sweet. If you've had any of the other NC wines like Duplin or Dennis, these are similar.
The property itself is beautiful. There is a large mostly shaded deck with rocking chairs, tables, a fire pit, and great views of the vineyard and like. There are two treehouses, one of which you can rent by the hour (no - not like that) during the day and the other one which is fully furnished and can be rented overnight. They are booked up for a while, so if you want to stay here, you will have to plan ahead. They are also very pet friendly and you can bring your dogs - they have three that roam the property. They even allowed us to bring our dog into the tasting room.
The tour itself is somewhat brief. It's a tour of the winemaking process rather than a tour of the property but it was very nice. The tasting was also good so you can decide which wine(s) you would like to purchase, plus you also get to keep the wine glass.
Some businesses have used the local daily deal sites and not had much success with them, but it has worked well for Treehouse Vineyads. The tours for them basically have no overhead, and the tastings do not cost them much. So when they package those with a bottle of wine, and it gets people out to their vineyard, it works well and they don't lose any money. It brought us out, along with many other people, so it may be good to go here on an off-peak time if you can.
